PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
UNIVERSITIES OF HULL AND YORK DENTAL SCHOOL (9 November 2005)

Motion Details

That this House notes the significant imbalance in dental health and NHS dental provision between the North and the South of England; further notes that there are fewer NHS dentists per head of population in the North East and East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire than in England as a whole; expresses concern that the level of diseased teeth for 14 year olds in Yorkshire and the Humber is the highest in England; and therefore urges the Government to approve the bid by Hull and York universities to establish a new dental school which will help address this imbalance, as evidence suggests dentists are more likely to practise near where they are trained.
