AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL AND AUNG SAN SUU KYI (8 November 2005)

Motion Details

That this House recognises the efforts of the Dundee branch of Amnesty International in raising the continued plight of Aung San Suu Kyi, and that she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her unselfish and inspiring leadership of the movement for the return of democracy in Burma; is appalled at the continued forced isolation and house arrest occurring in Burma; and calls on the UK Government to support stricter import/export controls on trade with the Burmese regime.
