PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
HORNSEA AND WITHERNSEA COMMUNITY HOSPITALS (27 October 2005)

Motion Details

That this House condemns the proposals to close the minor injuries unit and reduce the number of beds at Hornsea Cottage Hospital, and the decision to reduce the opening hours of Withernsea Hospital Minor Injuries Unit; recognises the excellent service provided by these community hospitals in providing locally accessible healthcare; notes that such a service is invaluable to the rural and isolated towns in Holderness; further notes the strength of public support in favour of these community hospitals; further notes that despite its challenging financial situation the Yorkshire Wolds and Coast Primary Care Trust also has a responsibility to provide accessible health care for the residents of Hornsea and Withernsea; and calls upon the Government to review the cuts and closures that conflict with the Government's commitment to community hospitals in its 2005 manifesto.
