PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
DECENT HOMES AND FUEL POVERTY (18 October 2005)
Motion Details
That this House notes with grave concern recent comments from the Minister for the Communities in which he indicated that the target of ensuring that all social rented homes would meet the Decent Homes Standard by 2010 will not be achieved; understands that full compliance with the Decent Homes Standard is a key element of the UK Fuel Poverty strategy, of current Office of the Deputy Prime Minister Public Service Agreement Targets 1 and 2 and of the Labour party manifesto 2005; believes that central government is ultimately responsible for meeting all of the above commitments; and calls on the Government to ensure that all local authorities have the necessary resources to meet the target and honour the promises made to all social sector tenants.
