PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
REFORM OF THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR HEALTH AND CLINICAL EXCELLENCE (16 October 2005)
Motion Details
That this House welcomes the announcement from the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) that it has passed proposals to reform the process of appraising health technologies to the Department of Health; is shocked at CancerBACUP's report that there are currently 23 licensed cancer drugs which have been delayed by the current system for many months, potentially affecting the lives of cancer patients across England and Wales; urges the Government to look urgently at the proposals from NICE and speed up the necessary process of appraising cancer drugs whilst maintaining its robust and transparent nature; and looks forward to a Government announcement to this effect in the near future.
