PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS (11 October 2005)
Motion Details
That this House notes the proposal of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales to alter its name to The Institute of Chartered Accountants; further notes that across the world chartered accountancy bodies all retain their geographic designation, including the oldest, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland; believes that any such change would be inappropriate and create unnecessary market place confusion; and respectfully requests that the Privy Council reject any amendment to the Institute's Royal Charter which would be required to give effect to the proposal.
