PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
INHERITANCE TAX RETURN (20 July 2005)
Motion Details
That this House believes that the requirement for completion of a form IHT205 in respect of estates worth less than the inheritance tax threshold is an unnecessary burden on the tax payer; notes that the number of estates below the threshold required to make such returns has increased from 30,000 to 300,000 with the introduction of the IHT205 form and the re-definition of excepted estates; and calls on the Government to end the requirement for estates below the inheritance tax threshold to make a claim.
