PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
MARCONI, LIVERPOOL (7 June 2005)

Motion Details

That this House notes with great concern the proposed closure of the Marconi factory in Edge Lane, Liverpool, and consequent heavy job losses; deplores British Telecom's decision to order their 21st century replacement from China, exploiting low wages in that country; supports the Right honourable Member for Liverpool Wavertree and the trade unions in their efforts to salvage 300 or so hi-tech jobs on the site; and calls on the North West Regional Development Agency, the Department of Trade and Industry, Marconi and British Telecom to work together urgently and constructively towards resolving the problems that this decision has created.
