PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
MICROGENERATION BILL IN THE 2004-05 SESSION (17 May 2005)
Motion Details
That this House welcomes the introduction of the Microgeneration Bill on 7th April in the last session of Parliament; notes that the Bill, had it been enacted, would have required the setting of national and local targets for microgeneration, granted permitted development status to such developments and enabled people to install equipment far more easily, within safeguards that ensured that visual, environmental and noise impacts would be minimal; notes that it would have required energy suppliers to purchase surplus electricity generated by microgeneration, required future building regulations to promote microgeneration and enabled persons installing microgeneration equipment to have easy access to renewables obligation and similar certificates; and urges the Government to support a Bill with these provisions in this session of Parliament.
