PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
CITES AND THE IVORY TRADE (16 May 2005)
Motion Details
That this House believes in the crucial importance of conserving the elephant population for future generations; fully supports the efforts of the Council for the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) signatory countries to eradicate elephant poaching; endorses the agreements made by CITES to ban trade in ivory; and urges the CITES Secretariat and Standing Committe to resolve to continue with this ban.
