PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ILLEGAL MEAT IMPORTS (16 May 2005)
Motion Details
That this House deplores the Government's inaction on tackling illegal meat imports; notes that illegal meat imports present serious risks to both animal and human health, and threaten the survival of many species in the wild; believes that posters, leaflets and a few extra sniffer dogs at UK entry points falls well short of the action required to protect human and animal health; and calls on the Government immediately to commence trials of x-ray technology to prevent illegal meat entering the UK.
