PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED OILS IN FOOD (16 May 2005)

Motion Details

That this House recognises the increasing amount of evidence which suggests that the removal of partially hydrogenated oils (trans fats) from foodstuffs would reduce the risk of increased cholesterol, heart disease, strokes and obesity; further recognises the failure of the Food Standards Agency to support any mandatory action to deal with the issue; and urges the Government to take immediate and positive action to eliminate, or reduce, the use of trans fats, beginning with its inclusion in foods in school dinners.
