PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ABOLITION OF COUNCIL TAX REVALUATION IN ENGLAND (16 May 2005)

Motion Details

That this House regrets the effect of council tax revaluation in Wales which saw one in three households move up at least one band; further regrets that council tax has increased by 76 per cent. since 1997; expresses concern that council taxes look set to increase further as a result of revaluation in England, re-banding, including the creation of new top level bands and the continued imposition of unfunded cost-burdens on local authorities; acknowledges the growing level of discontent about council tax bills; and calls on the Government to abort plans for a council tax revaluation in England.
