PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
WIND FARMS OFF PORTHCAWL (16 May 2005)

Motion Details

That this House notes the decision of the planning committee of the Welsh Assembly to grant approval for 30 wind turbines off Porthcawl; further notes that this decision was taken against the recommendation of the planning inspector, Mr Stuart Wilde, who stated that the visual effects of the turbines would be significant and harmful; and, given the overwhelming opposition from local residents and the local planning officer, calls for the Welsh Assembly to reverse the decision to erect these huge turbines, which will have an adverse effect on tourism and the local environment at Porthcawl and Swansea Bay.
