PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ORANG-UTANS AT CHESTER ZOO (7 March 2005)

Motion Details

That this House applauds the outstanding efforts of the UK's zoos in saving endangered species from extinction, in particular Chester Zoo, where efforts are under way to help save one of humankind's closest relatives, orang-utans, which could face extinction in 10 to 20 years; notes that 27 orang-utans have been born at Chester Zoo; and calls on the public and private sectors to support the proposed new orang-utan facility, which is the Zoo's biggest project in its 70 year history.
