PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ANDY FARRELL OBE (26 January 2005)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates Wigan and Great Britain captain Andy Farrell on being awarded the OBE for his services to rugby league; recognises his distinguished career during which he has scored 3,381 points, captained Great Britain on 29 successive occasions since 1996 when he became the youngest player ever to captain Great Britain, and won the prestigious Man of Steel Award twice, most recently for his performance during the 2004 season, in addition to which he was awarded the Golden boot Award, only the second British player to win this coveted title; and believes that the OBE is a fitting tribute to his own efforts and the benefits he has brought to the sport of rugby league which are recognised across the international sporting community.
