PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
LOCAL COUNCILLOR APPOINTEE TO THE SOUTH WEST REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY (9 December 2003)
Motion Details
That this House expresses concern that although the Conservatives are the largest and most successful party in local government in the South West of England there is no Conservative among the four local authority directors of the Regional Development Agency; notes that the Leader of Dorset County Council, an excellent authority, was declined an interview during the recent selection process for RDA Board membership while councillors with less experience and from less highly rated authorities were given an interview; and calls upon the Government to inform regional development agencies that their boards should be inclusive of all strands of political opinion, whether or not sceptical of regionalism.
