PATIENT (ASSISTED DYING) BILL (27 November 2003)

Line 1, leave out from 'House' to end and add 'noted that the Patient (Assisted Dying) Bill is opposed by organisations representing the interests of those whom it would affect most, the elderly, the terminally ill, the disabled and the medical profession; further notes these organisations include Help the Aged, Age Concern, the Disability Rights Commission, Disability Rights Commission, Disability Awareness in Action, the Association for Palliative Medicine, the British Medical Association and the Royal College of Physicians; and calls upon the Government to reiterate its opposition to the legalisation of assisted suicide and voluntary euthanasia and to devote more resources to palliative and geriatric care.
