PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
VULCAN TO THE SKY (13 January 2004)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates the 'Vulcan to the Sky Appeal' for their successful application to the Heritage Lottery Fund; notes that this funding will allow important restoration work to begin on the XH558 Avro Vulcan B Mk2 in 2004, allowing it to return to display flight; further notes that the V-bombers, of which the Vulcan is the outstanding example, were the last large military aircraft to be entirely British in design and manufacture; recognises the contribution that the Vulcan's vast delta wing made to the design, power and manoeuvrability of Concorde; acknowledges the very high level of public support for returning the Vulcan to the air; appreciates the Vulcan's contribution to world peace, as a key component of NATO's nuclear deterrent during the Cold War and Britain's successful Falklands campaign; and looks forward to the Vulcan making a successful flight.
