PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
HOMELESS HOUSEHOLDS IN TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION (12 May 2004)
Motion Details
That this House recognises the problem of homeless families being housed in temporary accommodation in this country; acknowledges the deleterious effects on families of living in temporary accommodation; notes that half of those people questioned in a survey by Shelter said that they or their families' health had suffered owing to living in such accommodation; further notes that the number of homeless households living in temporary accommodation was 95,060 in December 2003; notes that this has more than doubled from 42,000 in 1997; and calls on the Government to accept the gravity of the situation and take substantive steps to reduce this unacceptable high figure.
