PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
WORLD ASTHMA DAY,4 MAY 2004 (28 April 2004)
Motion Details
That this House recognises the seriousness of asthma in the United Kingdom and the impact this chronic illness has on people from all walks of life; congratulates the National Asthma Campaign involvement in World Asthma Day, 4th May 2004, which aims to draw attention to the debilitating affects of asthma; asks the public, healthcare professionals and the Government to take this issue seriously; therefore welcomes the statement by the Secretary of State for Health that chronic illnesses have a huge impact on people's quality of life and the commitment he made to ensure that those who suffer from diseases such as asthma receive the support they need; and looks forward to the introduction of comprehensive models of chronic disease management such as the Kaiser Permanente model in the USA.
