10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEATH OF JOHN SMITH (25 April 2004)
Motion Details
That this House notes that 12th May marks the 10th anniversary of the tragic death of John Smith; pays tribute to his work as leader of the Labour Party between 1992 and 1994 which placed the Labour Party in an extremely strong position to win back power, in addition to his contribution to the Labour movement, Parliament and the constituents of North Lanarkshire whom he represented from 1970 until his death; recognises the overwhelming respect he commanded throughout the United Kingdom and is confident that he will always be fondly remembered both within the Labour Party, Parliament and the general public.
