PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ENDOMETRIOSIS AWARENESS (5 July 2004)
Motion Details
That this House recognises that endometriosis can be a distressing gynaecological disease that can lead to infertility, severe and constant pain, emotional distress, financial cost to the individual and the state due to delay in and incorrect diagnosis with ineffective treatments; welcomes the fourth Endometriosis Awareness Day on 7th July as a means of increasing knowledge and understanding amongst policy makers, health professionals and the public of what is still a relatively unknown disease despite the fact that one in 10 women in the UK is a sufferer; praises the work of the All Party Group on Endometriosis in campaigning to increase awareness of the disease and in particular for its launch of a new endometriosis pain and quality of life survey; and calls on the Government to invest more support and finance in research and best practice in and awareness of treatment of endometriosis to ensure women can have the best treatment wherever they live.
