PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
INDIAN AND BENGALI RESTAURANTS (13 November 2002)
Motion Details
That this House recognises the important contribution made to communities in all parts of the UK by Indian and Bengali restaurants; notes the problem that many restaurateurs are now having in recruiting chefs from within this country who have trained in different kinds of Asian cuisine; recognises the pressure that many restaurants are now facing as a result of this shortage of the skilled chefs that they need; commends the Guild of Bangladeshi Restaurateurs for its work in raising awareness of the problem; and calls on the Government to use its influence with those educational establishments to train chefs to ensure that they modify the range of courses they offer to help tackle the skills shortage.
