PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
GAMBLING BILL (24 October 2004)
Motion Details
That this House welcomes the Government's intention to bring up to date the gambling laws but questions why it is necessary to link this reform to contentious proposals allowing the establishment of mega casinos; notes that no-one knows what the longer-term consequences of such a reform would be; and calls upon the Government to give a commitment to limit this reform, in the first instance, to a few pilot projects on which the Government will then be able to proceed on the basis of evidence-based reform.
