CANADIAN SEAL HUNT (19 November 2002)
Motion Details
That this House, notes that the number of animals killed during the 2002 Canadian hunt of harp and hooded seals exceeded 300,000 and a recent study by international veterinarians found up to 42 per cent. of seal pups were skinned alive while fully conscious; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to convey its gravest concerns to the Canadian Government over the continuation of this hunt and to extend the ban which already exists on the importation onto the UK of certain seal products to all seal products and to press for a similar extension of the ban throughout the EU.
