PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
FARMGATE PRICES AND SUPERMARKETS (13 November 2002)
Motion Details
That this House is concerned that for every ú1 spent in supermarkets only a fraction goes to British farmers and growers who face the lowest farmgate prices in Europe; and calls upon UK supermarkets to back British agriculture by agreeing fairer trading terms with producers marketing British produce more assertively and reducing the proportion of imported foodstuffs which they sell.
