PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
BEATING BOWEL CANCER LOUD TIE CAMPAIGN (15 January 2003)
Motion Details
That this House supports Beating Bowel Cancer's Loud Tie Campaign, running from the 27th to 31st January; congratulates the charity on their parliamentary launch held in association with Aventis; realises that each year 35,600 men and women in the UK are diagnosed with bowel cancer, half of whom will die from this condition, resulting in 46 people dying every day; understand however that 90 per cent. of those lives could be saved if the disease was detected early enough and treated effectively; commends the charity for its work in the fight against bowel cancer by highlighting awareness of symptoms amongst the medical profession and the general public, promoting early diagnosis and encouraging open access to treatment choice; urges honourable Members to wear a loud tie during the Loud Tie Campaign; and wishes the charity every success for the campaign and the future.
