PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
GIBRALTAR AND SELF-DETERMINATION (4 March 2003)

Motion Details

That this House welcomes the United Nations statement of 12th February which stresses the importance of self-determination for territorial peoples; notes that despite the referendum in Gibraltar in November 2002 which revealed that 99 per cent. of Gibraltarians wish to remain British, there has been no categorical assurance by Her Majesty's Government that the freely expressed will of the people of Gibraltar will be observed; further notes that the United Nations believes that integration for territories should be an option; and calls on Her Majesty's Government ot offer the Gibraltarian people the option of integration with the United Kingdom.
