PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
BAE SYSTEMS (2 June 2003)
Motion Details
That this House is concerned by the decision by BAe Systems to make over 1,000 of its workforce redundant as a response to the MoD decision to bring the Nimrod programme to a controlled stop; calls on the Government and the company to work with the trades unions on those parts of the structure which are not subject to design change and can be worked on until the production phase restarts, thus retaining experienced workers which would constitute a future saving in the cost of the remaining Nimrods; and urges BAe Systems not to enact any compulsory redundances while the redundancy consultation process is still continuing.
