PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
NEEDS OF DISABLED PEOPLE (2 June 2003)
Motion Details
That this House welcomes the John Grooms Inquiry into the needs of young disabled people; notes that the report shows there is a constantly growing number of disabled people and further notes its worrying findings that policy-makers and service providers do not have sufficient accurate information about the situation facing disabled people, which often results in uncoordinated and inappropriate care, housing and health services; and calls on the Government to give greater priority to ensuring that the needs and rights of all disabled people are met and to play a strategic role in making available the necessary information so that future care services are coordinated effectively, funded adequately and are appropriate to the needs of the user.
