PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ACCESS TO POLLING STATIONS (6 November 2001)
Motion Details
That this House warmly welcomes Polls Apart 3, Scope's report on the accessibility of Britain's polling stations to disabled voters; notes that, on election day 2001, 69 per cent. of 1,900 surveyed polling stations were inaccessible to some disabled people; further notes that, although this is a significant improvement on the 1997 General Election, much work remains to be done; and calls on the Government to continue its efforts towards ensuring that no disabled person is excluded from the electoral process in future elections and that disabled people can pay a full and active part in all aspects of public and community life.
