PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
PROOF OF AGE ACCREDITATION STANDARDS SCHEME (30 October 2001)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates the British Retail Consortium on its proposal for an accreditation scheme that applies a common standard to the plethora of proof of age cards; recognises that this will allow retailers, licensees and publicans to ensure that the range of age-restricted products from alcohol, tobacco, knives, solvents and fireworks are not sold to those who are under age; welcomes the endorsement of the All Party Parliamentary Retail Industry Group and the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to endorse the proposal and offer its support.
