BRITISH STANDARDS INSTITUTION (19 July 2001)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates the British Standards Institution in this, its centenary year; applauds the BSI for its dedicated service throughout the 20th century and into this century as the UK's national standards setting body; recognises the significant contribution that BSI has made in aiding the competitiveness of British business, enabling the free movement of goods between nations, harmonisation of standards and the creation of a level playing field; in particular notes the success of the Kitemark which is recognised world-wide as a symbol of quality; welcomes BSI's innovative approach to introducing new standards for the ever changing products and services in today's economy; and wishes all the staff and others associated with BSI, in the 90 countries in which it now operates, a bright and successful future.
