PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
NANTYGWYDDON LANDFILL SITE (18 December 2001)
Motion Details
leave out from 'congratulates' to end and add 'the Labour-led National Assembly for Wales on commissioning the independent Purchon Report on the Nantgwyddon landfill site; notes that it is only following the publication of the report that the Welsh Nationalist leadership of the Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council has finally agreed to stop tipping household waste at Nantgwyddon; further notes the Welsh Nationalists promised during the local elections in 1999 that they would close the tip on Friday if they were elected on Thursday; is surprised that despite two and a half years having passed since then, the tip is still open; welcomes the generosity of the Labour-led Assembly's financial allocations to Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council, especially its generous provision for a new waste strategy; and calls on the Council and Amegen to institute a full review of the monitoring of hydrogen sulphide gases at the site.'.
