PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
PUBLIC WORKS - A TUC CELEBRATION OF PUBLIC SERVICES (3 December 2001)

That this House congratulates the TUC on organising Public Works, a rally in celebration of public services and public service workers in Central Hall, Westminster on 4th December; shares the TUC's commitment to delivery the highest quality services which have integrity and high ethical standards that are transparent and politically accountable; believes that now is the time for a renaissance of the public service ethos with a new emphasis on high quality skills, training and career development for all public servants; and affirms that the experience of public servants and users which will be outlined at the rally best demonstrates that directly funded and managed public services with directly employed staff can deliver the improvements in service provision that the Government seeks.
