PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
CHILDREN'S SOCIETY IN WALES (No. 2) (19 November 2001)
Motion Details
That this House deplores the decision of the Children's Society to withdraw from all its work in Wales, including community development projects based in some of the poorest areas in Europe and child advocacy projects as recommended in the Waterhouse Report; considers this to be discriminatory to Wales; commends the action of the Very Reverend Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Wales, in resigning as a president of the Children's Society; notes the ú1 million of public money invested in the projects annually; considers this to be a breach of faith; and calls upon the Children's Society to reverse this catastrophic decision.
