PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
DIABETES AWARENESS (9 June 2002)
Motion Details
That this House welcomes Diabetes UK's current awareness raising campaign, Too Deadly to Ignore; notes that 2.5 million people in the UK have diabetes, one million of these as yet undiagnosed; recognises that the severe complications of diabetes can be delayed or even prevented by early diagnosis and effective management of the condition; acknowledges that investing in diabetes services now will save money and lives over the long-term; recognises that tackling diabetes will help delivery existing health targets on older people and heart disease; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to ensure prompt publication of the National Service Framework for Diabetes delivery strategy and to make a clear statement about the priority it attaches to diabetes.
