PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
STOP NOW CAMPAIGN (No. 2) (20 May 2002)

Motion Details

That this House welcomes the Stop Now campaign by Energywatch against unscrupulous tactics used by some gas and electricity company salesmen; regrets the increase in such questionable methods; supports calls to ensure such methods are reduced by OFGEM; calls on the Government to protect consumers from these scams; and deplores the Government's attitude towards the Enterprise Bill, affording as it has little opportunity for proper scrutiny at every stage of the Bill's progress, and in particularly the absence of any debate on several significant clauses relating to consumer protection.
