PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
MR COLLINSON (19 May 2002)

Motion Details

That this House notes the decision to quash the custodial sentence given to Mr John Collinson from Chorley in Lancashire for taking lost golf balls; appreciates the fact that common sense has prevailed but recognises that such a sentence should not have been issued for taking lost property; and calls for a review of the judicial system so that people who commit serious crimes receive custodial sentences and the public's faith in the criminal justice system is restored.
