PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
70 YEARS OF MARS BAR IN SLOUGH (22 July 2002)

That this House notes that 1st August marks the 70th anniversary of the world's first Mars bar, made then, as it is now, in Slough; recognises that the Mars bar has helped this House work, rest and play since 1932 and continues to bring pleasure beyond measure for the British public and for people across the world; and acknowledges the immense contribution that Masterfoods, the manufacturer of the Mars bar, makes to the local community, not only as one of Slough's largest employers, but also through active leadership in local initiatives, such as the Education Action Zone, Leadership Challenge and Lifelong Learning Partnership, and through its many contributions to local causes.
