PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
LONG-TERM CARE FOR THE ELDERLY (1 February 2001)
Motion Details
That this House welcomes the measures the Government has taken to reform the funding of long-term care and improve health and social care services for older people; believes that the implementation of free nursing care funded by the NHS and benefiting 35,000 older people ends an unfairness which successive Conservative governments failed to correct; welcomes the investment of ú900 million by 2003-4 in better care services for older people which will be free at the point of use; and further believes that the right way to improve the health and well-being of older people is continued investment in the NHS and social services benefiting the many and not the few.
