CLOSURE OF MARKS AND SPENCER DIRECT (1 April 2001)
Motion Details
That this House deeply regrets the announcement by Marks and Spencer of its intention to close its call centre and fulfilment operations in Warrington; notes that 686 staff face redundancy as a result of this decision, which will impact particularly on North Warrington; and calls upon the Government to give every possible assistance in finding alternative employment for those staff and attracting to the area new employers who can make use of their skills.
