PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
NACODS LEVY ON MINERS' COMPENSATION PAYMENTS (12 February 2001)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates BBC Wales' Dragon's Eye for their investigation and revelations that NACODS in Wales are claiming a levy of up to 10 per cent. on compensation payments to miners under the Miners' Compensation Fund, even though the present Government has paid ú13.2 million to NACODS' solicitors already and has agreed to cover all the legal expenses involved by the union in pursuing these claims; and calls upon NACODS' leader in Wales, Blethyn Hancock, to hand back this money without delay, and apologise for seeking to profit at the expense of sick and disabled miners who have served the country and the coal industry to the detriment of their health.
