PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
BOND ISSUE FOR LONDON UNDERGROUND (24 November 1999)

Motion Details

That this House notes that Susan Kramer, Liberal Democrat mayoral candidate for London, the Old Labour prospective candidate for Mayor and now the leadership's preferred prospective candidate for Mayor have all expressed support for the use of bonds to finance improvements to London Underground; calls on the Conservative prospective candidates for Mayor, once they are again identified, to adopt this policy; and calls on the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, almost the sole remaining supporters of the Public Private Partnership for London Underground, to abandon the PPP and adopt a bond issue as the solution to London Underground's chronic under-investment.
