Motion Details
That this House congratulates scientists working for the Institute of Cancer Research, Cancer Research Campaign and the Imperial Cancer Research Fund on their success in locating a gene which increases a man's risk of testicular cancer by up to 50 times following a 10-year fight to discover the secrets of a form of cancer that is the most common in men aged 15 to 40 years, affecting 1,400 men in the United Kingdom every year and that has seen an 80 per cent. increase in the disease between the early 1970s and early 1990s; and urges men from families with an incidence of more than one case of testicular cancer to volunteer to take part in research to locate other inherited testicular cancer genes.
