INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT (13 December 1999)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates Her Majesty's Government on its commitment to publish the draft legislation for ratifying the International Criminal Court Statute; recognises the leading role it took in the drawing up of this treaty; recognises the importance of a permanent international criminal court to complement the efforts of national courts in punishing those responsible for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes; welcomes the ratification by Senegal, Trinidad and Tobago, San Marino, Italy and Fiji; notes that France, Belgium and Germany are at an advanced stage in the ratification process; and urges it to consult widely amongst all interested parties and to ratify the treaty as soon as possible.
