PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
THOROUGHBRED BREEDING INDUSTRY IN BRITAIN (13 December 1999)

Motion Details

That this House recognises the thoroughbred breeding industry as an important rural industry which is facing an immensely difficult time at present against an increasingly un-level playing field in Europe and the world; recognises that this unsubsidised industry provides the opportunity for long-term farm diversification and growth potential as a labour-intensive and environmentally-friendly rural industry with global export markets; and asks the Government to take into account this industry's significant contribution to the rural economy in making decisions about its eligibility for European funding programmes and in formulating wider countryside policies.
