PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
GREEN REFRIGERATION TECHNOLOGIES (4 April 2000)
Motion Details
That this House welcomes the announcement of the new policy position on HFC emissions in the recently published Climate Change: Draft UK Programme which states that: 'HFCs are not a sustainable technology in the long term', that 'action should be taken to limit the projected growth', and which supports the 'use of alternative substances with either no, or a lower, global warming potential such as hydrocarbons or ammonia'; welcomes the potential this offers for reducing HFC emissions from refrigeration and air-conditioning; and calls upon the Government for the earliest possible introduction of measures to encourage businesses to invest in alternatives to HFCs with low global warming potentials.
