PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
LINK NETWORK CASH MACHINE CHARGES (1 March 2000)
Motion Details
That this House is dismayed at the decision of LINK network members to allow banks to surcharge users of cash machines whatever amount they wish; is appalled that this decision ignores the recommendation in the Cruickshank Report that any such charges should reflect the cost of the service, which is less than 30 pence per transaction; and urges the Government to respond to this blatant example of commercial greed by immediately invoking the provisions of the Competition Act to protect the interests of the consumer, in particular those on low incomes and exposed to financial exclusion.
